The Entrepreneur
Prior to FlyCap Succession Capital, Richard served as Chief Operating Officer at Localcoin, a Toronto fintech. Prior to that, he led Blackhawk Network’s business development and strategy teams from startup through $1B IPO, and eventual $3.5B sale to Silverlake Capital, first in Canada, then in the US.
Part of Silverlake’s investment thesis was Blackhawk’s startup division in the Lottery & Sports Betting industries, which became the company’s most important strategic objective and was led by Blackhawk’s CEO. In 2018, Blackhawk’s CEO retired, and Richard was asked to run the new division, where he led the sales, product development, engineering and regulatory affairs teams, and managed a P&L account contributing over $20M to Blackhawk’s bottom line within 2 years.

Prior to that Richard was VP of Business Development, Strategy and Innovation, where he spearheaded global business development for Blackhawk’s digital solutions.

Prior to Blackhawk, Richard was founder and CEO at FundScrip, Canada’s largest school and non-profit fundraising program. Richard conceptualized the business, authored the business plan, raised over $1.7M in venture and angel financing and led the company to over $36M in revenues within 4 years of launch.
Richard currently lives in Montreal with his family and is ready to relocate to personally manage the right business opportunity near or within the greater Montreal or Toronto areas.
